It is a great book to read, but at parts goes into far too much detail. I found it difficult to read each line and not skip entire chapters. Watching the movies beforehand was quite helpful as well to imagine the characters. Otherwise i think it would be a bit tough to follow all the new words/languages/people invented in the story.

This guy walks across Afghanistan soon after the U.S. invasion. He largely avoids romanticism. However, the section on the Turquoise Mountain definitely made me think of The Man Who Would Be King. That's a plus.
