I've been trying to force myself to get through this since I saw the movie. I thought that I, as a literary sort, needed to get this one digested so I can sound clever at parties. It's a hard read, though. I don't care for the flowery style or the 15-page long paragraphs - it irks my inner journo. Plus, I'm just not buying some of it. How could old Mr. C have really recalled so many details? So many long, long, long blathery quotes? There has to be a lot of embellishment going on. I've had this by the toilet since my birthday last July, and I'm only about halfway done. (I'm not sure if that says more about the book or about my toilet habits.) I will make it, though. Someday.
