My dedication to finishing this book came more from my interest in the environment than the writing itself. The first half is heavy on science, which some might say it ought to be. But I think part of the problem with the environment is that people *don't* care to learn the specifics and as soon as she started talking about cubic meters, I was in la la land. Toward the second half she came to understand her reader and to weave in a more interesting narrative voice. The journalistic style of the majority of the book just wasn't working for the topic, which needs to BE personal. I found the discussion of the US behavior surrounding the Kyoto Protocol particularly interesting, and the calls to local action were inspiring. It's a short book and worth a flip through.
