This is the best, but hardest book I have ever read. It is truly amazing what the men went through during WWII. I have never cried so much through a book, and felt so much grief over people I have never met. These men were heros in every sense of the word. It was a very hard book to read because the cruelty they endured was horrendous. It is very graphic, and explains in detail what they went through. It is also a wonderful story of overcoming pure evil, and reclaiming ones life. Louie is a truly inspiring man.

A classic must read. This book "got me reading" when I was in college. Until then reading was always an assignment of a book that someone was making me read.
