I enjoyed hearing this story from the perspective of those directly involved: Ed, Lois and Elizabeth Smart. I read it to satisfy my curiosity about what really happened with this news story. It's not a masterpiece of a book as much as a statement from the Smarts about their experiences. After finishing the book I gained added respect for this family and learned a little about the need for victims to have more rights in our justice system. I had never really thought about the concept that the Constitution protects a criminal's rights, but does little to protect the victim's rights.
