I was intrigued by Hill's use of a poem for the format of the biography. Hill carefully explains the process of throwing a pot on a potter's wheel, and the double spread illustrations bring this process to life before my eyes. With minimal use of words, the author recounts a very creative man's life story. "But before the jar completely hardened, Dave picked up a stick and wrote to let us know that he was here." Dave wrote on his jar this poem, "I wonder where is all my relation friendship to all- and, every nation"
