Book 8(?) and the formula is well established. This book progressed the overall plot but did not impress me much otherwise. Most of these books have had at least one adult portrayed as honest and intelligent - or at least responsible. This one did not. Adult ignorance and disbelief is a theme throughout the series that I dislike.

Thirty years ago all I read was science fiction, I don't know how this escaped me, it is a classic of the genre. Now I rarely read science fiction but I thoroughly enjoyed Valentine Smith's story, as the man who raised by Martians came to the earth of his forebears and transformed earth's culture. Smith combines psychic powers and superhuman intelligence with a childlike naivete of Earth's ways.
